Groups.io: Changelog
November 6, 2026
Account & Login
- CHANGE: Moving between Feed, Your Groups, Topics, Hashtags, Your Calendar, Your Chats, Your Activity, Pending and Enterprise Settings reloaded the whole page each time. Now only the main part of the page changes, as it already did within a group, so these pages open faster, on the website and in the app.
- CHANGE: Email addresses at ilands.app were already banned from registering. Addresses at ilands.com and ilands.ai are now banned too, along with addresses at any subdomain of the three, such as mail.ilands.app.
- BUGFIX: Upcoming events on the Feed page were meant to show each event's color as a dot, but the dot didn't appear. It is back.
- BUGFIX: When you reached the Feed page from another page in the sidebar, the browser tab had no title. It now says Feed.
- BUGFIX: After you asked for a login link, the page saying the email had been sent was the answer to the form you submitted, so reloading it, or a phone's browser reopening that tab later, quietly asked for another link. People who left that tab open got login link emails several times a day without trying to log in. The confirmation page is now a separate page, so reloading it or reopening the tab no longer sends another email.
Billing
- BUGFIX: A group with more members than the free plan allows is locked when it goes back to the free plan, and its subgroups are locked too. Upgrading the group again didn't remove the lock, so an owner who upgraded right after a free trial ended, or after a missed payment, paid for Premium and still couldn't make any changes until they found the Unlock Group button. Upgrading from the free plan now unlocks the group and its subgroups.
- BUGFIX: When no one was set to pay a group's upcoming yearly renewal, the reminder email sent two weeks before said the bill "is set to be paid by ." with no name, and said no action was needed. It now says no one is set to pay, that someone needs to click Set Me As Payer on the billing page before the renewal date or the group will be downgraded to the free plan, and, when it applies, that the group or its subgroups would then be locked.
Design & Accessibility
- CHANGE: If your device is set to reduce motion, the bar at the top of the page while a page is loading is now a still line instead of a moving one, and pages no longer fade in.
- BUGFIX: On phones and in the app, the counts on the bottom tabs (Chats on Your Groups and the other pages of your account, Messages and Chat in a group) didn't change as you moved between pages. They now update on every page. The Messages count also lost its red badge style after you moved to another page; it keeps it now.
- BUGFIX: On phones and in the app, the whole page faded briefly every time more items loaded as you scrolled, and after other actions that didn't change the page. It now fades in only when you move to another page.
Public Pages & Help
- NEW: The search boxes in the help center now list matching articles as you type, starting from the second letter. Each article shows the manual and section it's in, or Glossary for glossary entries, and a See all results line at the bottom runs the full search. Use the arrow keys to move through the list, Enter to open an article and Escape to close the list. Pressing Enter without choosing an article still searches as before.
Mobile App
- CHANGE: Going back to a long list in the app, such as Topics, Messages, Members or Chats, returned to the top with only the first page of items, even if you had scrolled far down. Going back, or forward, now reloads the items you had scrolled through and returns to where you were.
Site-wide
- CHANGE: When a page couldn't be loaded, clicking its link or tab seemed to do nothing. Now, if the page has an error, the error page is shown. If the site can't be reached, or doesn't answer within 30 seconds, a message says the page could not be loaded, with a Retry now link. If saving a form fails, a message says your change was not saved.
- BUGFIX: A link in the content of a group page that went somewhere with a different sidebar (another group, a subgroup, Your Groups or your account settings) opened that page under the first group's sidebar, so the sidebar and its links were wrong. These links now load the whole page.
- BUGFIX: If you clicked a link and then another before the first page had loaded, a slow first page could replace the one you picked last. Going back while a page was still loading had the same problem. The page you picked last now always wins, and a form you were saving still finishes saving.
- BUGFIX: After saving a form that stays on the same page, such as a group's Settings, "Your changes have been saved." appeared twice, and every later notice on that page appeared twice as well. Each notice now appears once.

Highlights
- Owners can turn hashtags like #sold or #solved into statuses. The person who started a topic can then set its status from the topic page or from a link in a private email, without replying to the whole group.
- Wiki pages have been restyled. They now have a page list on the left, a contents panel on the right, an Insert block menu for callouts, FAQs and columns, and templates for new pages.
- A database's map view stays beside the table while scrolling, groups nearby pins into numbered clusters, works with the keyboard and in dark mode, and now handles tables of up to 1,000 rows.
- The Topics and Messages Filter is now a single panel. It can find topics with no replies yet, and the search results show each active filter with an × to remove it.
- When a message is sent from the group's address, the sender's name now names the group, as in "Jane Smith via photography".
Messages & Topics
- NEW: The Filter on the Topics and Messages pages has a new "Topics with no replies yet" option, which finds topics nobody has answered. Sticky and locked topics are left out, since they aren't expecting replies. It can be combined with hashtag and date filters, and with search terms.
- NEW: Members who started a topic had no way to show that an item had sold or a question was answered except by replying to the whole group. In groups with status hashtags, the person who started a topic now has a Set status button on the topic page that sets its status or clears it. A topic has one status at a time, other hashtags are left alone, nothing is emailed to the group, and the topic doesn't move up the list. Moderators with the Edit Archives permission can set the status of any topic.
- NEW: A status hashtag that also has the Locked setting locks the topic when it's set, and clearing it or switching to an unlocked status reopens the topic, unless another hashtag on the topic also locks it. If a moderator locks a topic that doesn't have a locked status, only moderators can change its status.
- NEW: Topics with a locked status, such as #sold, are dimmed on the Topics page and in search results, so open listings stand out. Hashtag badges keep their colors.
